Welcome
For many years I was a studio painter, bringing cards and photographs that I enjoyed to class in order to transform them into an oil painting. Then one day I met some painters who painted out of doors - plein air painters. I decided that was for me! In spite of any and all problems doing my landscape paintings, like sunburn, bee bites, losing my brush or wind dashing my canvas to the ground, I always had a good day!
I am always inspired by trees, and the more unusual they are, the better. Perhaps it is because when I was a child, I lived on a farm that had a small wooded area on one corner of the property. I loved venturing into the woods and seeing the sun play on the trees and foliage. From that time to now I have loved trees, and to me the most interesting ones are the most grotesque, for they have the most personality.
A few years ago I met Cassandra James, a teacher from the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL. When I asked her to help me to become creative, this abstract playful style of simple lines and bold colors emerged. I enjoy capturing the shapes of the landscapes and coloring my world beautiful.
